Investigating iranian English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students’ writing skills based on principal component analysis

Identifying EFL writing components involves an intricate network of principles and approaches that also involve assessment models. Methods teaching assessing are normally compatible with the purposes or expectations writing-specific courses/programs. This study investigated most important academic constructs in Iranian students based on principal component analysis. To this end, Oxford Placement Test (OPT) was administered its results, 60 (out 114) male female learners from Islamic Azad University, Broujerd Branch, Iran, were randomly selected as homogeneous sample study. Additionally, 100 teachers four language institutes asked to participate. Three instruments used, namely OPT, a survey questionnaire, tasks. The data analyzed through findings revealed students’ skills “mode”, “assessment”, “mechanics”, respectively. suggested implications for L2 improvement practical theoretical perspective. findings, more specifically, could shed light current practices theories, prove useful practitioners future studies field second writing.
